10 Acts of Self-Care that Don’t Cost a Dime

10 acts of self care that don't cost a dime

I have been in a crap mood for the past week. Instead of being excited about the new year, I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious. It happens. When it happens, that’s a sure sign I need to lean into my self-care practice.

For some reason, self-care conjures images of bath bombs, manicures, and delicious desserts. I’m here for all of that but self-care is so much more than a spa day. Self-care is about taking the time to take care of you so you can be your best in every area of your life. It can be as simple as drinking hot tea in the morning and extra as Eat, Pray Love. Whatever you do to take care of you, is your practice and your business. Since I’m trying to save my coins in 2018,  as should you, I’m sharing 10 acts of self-care that don’t cost a dime and can be done daily. All of these things keep me sane and shift my mood from bad to Beyoncé real quick.

10 Acts of Self-Care that Don’t Cost a Dime

  1. Breathe.
  2. Say no.
  3. Hydrate. (Moisturize and mind your own damn business. It’s a mantra.)
  4. Unplug. No TV, phone or internet.
  5. Wind to remind and twerk to resist.
  6. Slow down and enjoy the moment.
  7. Do nothing.
  8. Journal.
  9. Laugh out loud, for real.
  10. Mirror work. (This involves standing in front of a mirror for 1 minute and telling yourself, I love you. it’s hella awkward and extremely powerful.)

I so want to try number 4! Just from the look of it, it seems really challenging but I definitely should. I believe it would be worth it at the end! Great read, loving the post.

The best way to unplug is to schedule a few hours of reading during the week. Can’t watch TV, browse the net or obsessively check social if you’re busy reading. BTW love your site.

Love this! Tonight I decided not to spend the night talking to one friend to the next, but to catch up on reading blogs, and now making myself so tea to relax-unwind. We owe it to ourselves to relax and be present sometimes.

Good luck with the new team! I am the marketing and events department at my company so I know the struggle and that’s why I make it my mission to take time and relax when I can.

It is so awkward and weird the first time you do it BUT afterward you feel great.
