Thanksgiving is knocking at the door and Christmas is just up the street so you know what that means…time to plane, train, and automobile it from one relation’s house to the other. With all that holiday travel on the calendar for the next month, keeping your style on lock and your beauty routine in order can be a struggle. Between TSA restrictions, lost luggage, and inevitably forgetting your favorite shoes, something will go wrong and leave you stranded and looking a mess when you bump into your high school crush and his wife. Thankfully, I’ve spent enough time living out of a suitcase and have amassed a few tips and tricks to get you over the river, through the woods, and to grandma’s table looking fly. Now, if only these five holiday travel tips could keep everyone from asking when you’ll meet someone. Anyway, keep scrolling for the things you can’t live without as you travel this holiday season.

YSL Touche Éclat
If there is one beauty product I cannot live without, this is it! True to its name, Touche Éclat brightens the dullest complexions and will give you that “I got a full nights rest” glow in a few clicks. Holiday travel aside, I go through several tubes of this a year, it is that good.

Always pack a little black dress that travels well. Even if you don’t plan on going out for drinks or dinner. Someone or something unexpected with pop up and the Virgo in me would rather overpack than be unprepared.

A Leather Jacket
This time of year you never know what the weather will be at your destination, even if you check the weather. While a blanket poncho or wrap may be perfect for the plane, leather rules everything when you land. It’s a great way to dress up a basic look or dress down that LBD you packed. Oh and don’t forget it keeps you warm.

I carry all of my lipsticks and glosses in a small makeup bag, in my purse 24/7. It is a bit excessive but if you’ve ever been invited to an event last minute and don’t have a stitch of makeup on you, you’ll quickly learn the value of a good lipstick. A berry shade pulls double duty as blush and a little gloss goes a long way as a slick eye shadow. (Don’t knock it ’til you’ve been forced to try it.)

Tights or Leggings
Remember how I said the weather across the country is fairly unpredictable this time of year? That was not an exaggeration. It can be 70 degrees at midday and 35 degrees a night, so pack a pair of tights or leggings. Bonus, leggings are just stretch pants and when paired with an oversized silk blouse, a leather jacket, and boots, they make the perfect “hide the food baby” post-dinner outfit. You’re welcome.
