Staying Summer Fit Through the Holidays

fit through the holidays

Between pies, family obligations, and cocktail parties, staying fit through the holidays is hard AF. Eating healthy is dead to you for the next month and your gym trips are replaced with marathon mall runs. Just because being fit doesn’t fit with your holiday plans, you don’t have to let it all go to hell. Instead of waiting until January to refocus on your health, check out my tips below to stay summer-time fit through the holidays.

Upgrade your gear. There is nothing like a cute matching set to keep you motivated to sweat. If you look good, you feel good, and can push through those last few reps. Right now, I am all about Adore Me’s sets. They are functional, feature great details, and make your butt look great. I am especially loving the Rahel, and it’s on sale.

Find a swole-mate.  Skipping an early a.m. workout is 10x harder when you have a swole-mate to keep you in line. Get one of your girls or family members, on board to be your holiday workout buddy. Encourage each other to take post-dinner walks and squeeze in some HIIT.

Stay hydrated. Between family dinners and cocktail parties, liquor is everywhere. To counteract all the boozy goodness, stay hydrated. Keeping up with your water intake fights bloat, overeating, and hangovers. Water also happens to be free so there’s that.

Keep it moving. Just because you don’t have time to go to the gym doesn’t mean you have to binge Hallmark movies in bed. Get up, get out and get active. Whether you are cleaning house, sight-seeing, or dancing the night away, get your booty moving fam.

Indulge. Part of the holiday season is enjoying great food, friends, and family. Not one moment of it involves counting calories and fretting over carbs. Get the idea of bad foods out of your head and live a bit. Trust me one slice of pie won’t hurt you but shamefully eating the entire pie at midnight might.

How are you planning on staying fit through the holidays?

I love how realistic this is! The next 2 months will be the hardest to stay active, especially since it is cold at 5 am. I definitely need to find a swole-mate.

YES! The Holidays are terrible for keeping fit and healthy! all those parties and the drinks and the cold weather. I tend to eat a good healthy meal before I go out and then I’m not tempted by the food there because i’m already full, not being a big drinker helps too. Great exercise tips, that’s where I fall behind for sure in the Holiday season!

Eating healthy before you go out is actually a great idea. I’ll have to try that.

These are some great tips! I’m still searching for an accountability partner, because sometimes I Just don’t feel motivated to gym. I’m definitely with you on not shaming myself for enjoying food and due to that, I’m able to keep my munching in check.
